Tell me about the Salem Wrestling Booster Club? Should all parents attend the monthly meetings?

If your son is on the Salem Wrestling Team you are already a member of the Booster Club.  The Salem Wrestling Booster Club was established to promote the betterment and growth of the wrestling program at Salem High School.  Our focus is on events that take place outside of the wrestling room and off the mats.  This enables our coaching staff to concentrate on what happens on the mat, building our wrestlers and the wrestling program.

The booster club sponsors several tournaments/meets at Salem High School as well as other fundraising activities.  In the past we have sponsored euchre tournaments, golf outings, poker nights and restaurant fundraising events.  The funds from the booster club are returned right back to support the team/wrestlers.

Meetings are held in room 2400 at Salem High School on the (4th) Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

When and where are tournaments/meets?

Tournaments are held in different locations on Saturdays and vary depending on coaching preferences. Please keep in mind that sometimes the JV and Varsity wrestles may compete at different locations. Salem wrestling hosts a JV and a Varsity tournament in December.

Is transportation available to/from meets and tournaments?

Bus transportation is provided TO meets that are held during the week.  Parents must make arrangements for transportation home.

Parent volunteers provide transportation to/from weekend tournaments (volunteers are always needed and appreciated).  Wrestlers are picked up and dropped off at Salem High School for tournaments.  It is the responsibility of the parent for transportation to and from Salem.

What should wrestlers bring to tournaments/meets?

Wrestlers should bring all wrestling gear, warm-ups, and plenty of nutritious food/drinks to last the day/evening (most wrestlers pack a individual cooler).

What should parents bring to tournaments/meets?

There is usually an admission fee for each meet/tournament and sometimes a charge for bracket sheets.  It is wonderful to see so many Salem parents cheering on the wrestlers!  Since tournaments usually last all day, a comfortable seat back, snacks and drinks and maybe reading material are appropriate to bring for the day.

Help, my son has a skin infection!

Speak with a coach. They can provide you with assistance.

Keep in mind it is important to be pro-active to avoid skin issues. Wrestlers SHOULD shower after every practice with anti-bacterial soap. All wrestling practice clothes should be washed after each use.

Who can I ask if I have additional questions?

Ask a coach or another parent, check the website have your son check with another wrestler

Don’t hesitate to ask!
